In the United States, smart grid technologies and other connected devices are being installed in an aging infrastructure system. More and more, everyday objects are becoming interconnected. Household appliances and other consumer electronics are now enabled with sensors and exchanging data with other devices and systems (IoT).
For utilities, monitoring and operating the grid will become increasingly difficult as these interconnected devices generate growing amounts of data for utilities to collect, share and manage. The management and utilization of data generated from these different components of the electrical system will be crucial for continued and improved operations.
