Powel and Greenbird enter partnership agreement

SECURES INTEGRATION BETWEEN SMART METERING VALUE CHAINS AND GRID INFORMATION SYSTEMS DELIVERED BY POWEL.

TRONDHEIM/OSLO, November 2, 2015 – Utilities throughout the world are entering their biggest transformation ever on their path towards becoming digital utilities. Utilizing advantages with smart metering and smart grids will be crucial. Seizing the opportunities with information and for controlling smart grids will be an enabler for realizing the benefits for the utilities. Integration of applications in the value chain for smart metering and smart grids is a key success factor. The new partnership agreement between Powel and Greenbird will enable utilities to realize benefits with smart metering and smart grids.

INTEGRATION DELIVERED AS A SERVICE

– Today, most utilities solve required integration for supporting the value chain for smart metering and smart grids by conducting custom integration projects. These projects are known to have long time to market, high cost, and high risk involved. Through more than 10 years of experience with these kind of integration projects, Greenbird has revealed that most integration processes are common across utilities. Based on these findings, Greenbird are now developing the integration service Metercloud. Utilities can now solve their integration requirements by utilizing Metercloud supporting standard business processes like smart meter rollouts, smart meter operation and smart grid operation, explains Thorsten Heller, CEO at Greenbird.

INTEGRATION TOWARDS SERVICES FROM POWEL

Metercloud has a layered architecture supporting standard business processes independently from which application vendors that are utilized by the utilities. Vendor specific connectors secure that Metercloud can exchange information with specific applications from various software vendors. The partnership agreement between Powel and Greenbird secure that Greenbird will develop Metercloud connectors for grid information systems from Powel. The collaboration between Powel and Greenbird contribute to securing that integration between the smart metering value chain and applications from Powel are based on a modern, flexible and scalable platform with low risk involved. The APIs that will be developed supports future requirements for modern architecture and modular design principles.

RAPID UTILIZATION OF SMART GRIDS

– The partnership agreement with Greenbird shall ensure that our customers can benefit from major investments in technology for smart metering and smart grids. Powel are now developing new interfaces for all applications as a part of our mobile first, cloud first strategy.
